Gregg Smith is a Marine veteran and retired businessman living in Custer County, Colorado. He will bring his small town values, patriotism and love of country to Congress.

Gregg grew up in Brooklyn, Michigan, a one-stoplight town in rural Michigan, home of the famous Michigan International Speedway. It was there that Gregg developed the foundation of his values that helped ground him and continue to guide him to this day: honesty, respect, and duty.

That sense of duty led Gregg to enlist as a Marine on his 18th birthday, during the height of the Iran Hostage crisis. Gregg served as an NCO with the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marines, Weapons Company. He deployed twice to Lebanon in 1983. The second time following the Beirut barracks bombing that killed 241 United States military personnel. For his service, Gregg was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon and various other ribbons and medals.

After leaving the Marines in 1985, Gregg went back home and enrolled at Michigan State University, graduating with honors and earning a finance degree. After working for a couple of years, Gregg continued his education and received his MBA from the University of Michigan in 1992.

Gregg’s business career spanned 30 years. He was a partner at Deloitte where he led the U.S. Corporate Finance practice and was a Senior Managing Director at CIT.

In 2013, Gregg was appointed CEO of Frontier Services Group, a pan-African logistics business. Gregg resigned from Frontier Services Group in 2016 when he became aware that the Chairman of the Board had instructed personnel to reconfigure surveillance aircraft into light attack aircraft without the appropriate licenses from the U.S. State Department.  Gregg reported the activities to the Board of Directors, confronted the Chairman, resigned his position, and reported the activities to both the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Department of Justice.

Since his retirement in 2016, Gregg has helped and advised family and friends on various business opportunities and worked on the family ranch. Gregg and his wife Lisa are the proud parents of two adult children. They live on a horse ranch in the magnificent Wet Mountain Valley with their faithful dogs, Risky and Kezi.
